Dear all,
We all are well known about the pollution in Kathmandu. About 70% of Kathmandu’s pollution (air pollution) is due to vehicle emission. As the urban development increases, the necessity of vehicle transport becomes inevitable. As dependence on vehicle increases, the density of vehicle increases. Vehicular pollution in Kathmandu is so high that a natural air with its natural composition has become rare and the consequences of such polluted air are not strange to us. We human are so greedy that we dream to ride cars and other automobile but don’t have even a single second to think about the pollution caused by them.
In this context, we have an alternative that best suit for Katmandu valley. Yes! Bicycle can be the best alternative to control all these pollution. Bicycles are the ultimate clean air, zero emission vehicle. Bicycles are practical, economical, low-maintenance and non- polluting. Cycling is fast and practical way to get around town especially in Kathmandu where the climate is favorable to cycling most of the year. Plus, riding bicycle is fun and great form of exercise.
Bicycle are environment friendly means of transportation, no tailpipe, no evaporative emission from gasoline pumping or oil refining and zero carbon dioxide or other green house gases that contribute to global warming. Bicycling also mean less water pollution. They are quiet so don’t contribute to noise pollution.
In this background, we the students of environmental science of ASCOL have established an eco friendly cycling club with the title “ASCOL ECO CYCLING CLUB (AECC)”. AECC is not inspired by any political institution and works in the field of pollution control and environment conservation.
Some of our objectives are:
Ø  To provide awareness about Environment pollution and conservation
Ø  To establish bicycle as the alternative means of transportation to control pollution
Ø  To organize cycling tours for awareness as well as recreation
To run our club successfully we need your strong help and support. You can help us by just being a member of our club which is free of cost. Having bicycle is not the compulsion to be the member of our club. We expect your help. Your support will be valuable to us.
